The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on the elected governor of Taraba state, Arc.Darius Dickson Ishaku and all the elected members of the State House of Assembly to work tirelessly round the clock by fulfilling their election campaign promises to the people.
The National Commissioner for Taraba, Bauchi and Gombe state, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Tijani Muazu, who made the call while presenting certificates of returns to the governor, his deputy and the entire member elected for the State House of Assembly, yesterday at the INEC premises in Jalingo, said the need to deliver on the campaign promise cannot be overemphasized because “the voters are the ones that voted all of you into power.”
Commending the electorate for the peaceful conduct of the general elections in the state, the need for the people to continue to collaborate with all the elected politicians in order to maintain the existing peace, he said have become necessary.
Overwhelmed by the development, ishaku reiterated his determinations to keep to the promises made by him while seeking for a relection in the just concluded general polls
Ishaku who was of the view that such promises would only see the light of the if the people eschew acts capable of thwarting the peaceful coexistence of the state , urged the people to give him “peace and i will give development .”
On his part, the re-elected speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abel Peter Diah, said all the members will work ” as one family irrespective of political differences to attract development to the nooks and crannies of the state.
The speaker and the leadership of the House who have work hand in hand with the executive arm of the government in the outgoing legislative year, said the next assembly would witness more collaboration among the members and the executive.
Aligning his weight to that of the governor, he admonished the people to embrace peace stating that ” we have good plans for our various constituencies but we can only achieve that if the peace we desired are provided by our people by distancing themselves from crisis
