UAC appoints Oriola group finance director

UAC of Nigeria PLC (UAC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Ibikunle Ibiyinka Oriola as group finance director.

According to a statement from the company, Oriola is a seasoned professional with 17 years experience gained from diverse functional roles, spanning finance, strategy, risk management and corporate finance.

He has provided strategic finance leadership, driving transformation and growth agenda of conglomerate businesses spanning several sectors such as hospitality, real estate, power, agriculture and asset/funds management.

Oriola worked as group chief finance officer of Asset & Resource Management Holding Company Limited, where he oversaw the group’s finance function. Prior to that, he was the group CFO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (TRANSCORP) responsible for executing a broad range of finance and ancillary roles.

He has extended corporate finance experience gained as a transaction adviser working with Ecobank Capital and KPMG. He was seconded to KPMG UAE for 15 months in 2007, where he worked on several infrastructure finance projects. He also previously worked with Kakawa Discount House (now FBN Merchant Bank).

Oriola, who holds a BSc. in Finance from University of Lagos, is an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) merit award winner.

He will deploy his experience to the development and implementation of appropriate finance strategies to uplift productivity and business performance across the UAC Group.

He served the Association of Communication and Language Arts Students, as the Public Relation Officer, the same year he was appointed the News Editor of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students Press. The following session, he was made the General Editor, and a member of the 13-man University of Ibadan Students’ Union Transition Committee. As a reporter in The Guardian, in 2014, he won the Promasidor Quill Award Best Report on Nutrition and DAME Business Reporting category. In the 2015 edition of the Promasidor Quill Award, he won the best Report on Nutrition and Brand Advocate Categories, while in 2016, he won the NMMA Print Journalist of the Year, first runner-up Golden Pen Reporter of the Year and SERAs CSR Awards. Gbenga Salau loves traveling, reading, and listening to songs with good lyrics no matter the genre.
