The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial candidate for Abia North, Chief David Ogba Onuoha, popularly known as Bourdex, has pledged to work with winner of the election and senator-elect, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, to ensure the district’s development.

Speaking on Monday when Kalu visited him at his country home in Abriba, Onuoha, after a closed door meeting with the senator-elect, said: “In my capacity, I will ensure that we work assiduously together, towards the general upliftment of our people.”
He promised to maintain a good relationship with Kalu which dates back years.
“Although Dr. Kalu and I belong to different political parties, we have both come a very long way; from many years back. I have accepted him as my senator, representing Abia North.
Onuoha said it is time to collectively work for Abia North.
“As a party, we put in all of our very best, but, the people have spoken with their votes and INEC has declared a winner.
“We have since decided to move forward because what matters most now is working towards rebuilding all that have been destroyed and also, empowering our people.
He equally felicitated with Kalu on his victory.
“I congratulate Dr. Kalu on his resounding victory. It was victory for the people. I want to assure Dr. Orji Kalu that my family and I will stand by him. Even if the result is challenged at the Election Petitions Tribunal, I will still support him because the result of the election is a true reflection of the people’s mandate.”
Earlier, Kalu recalled his long relationship with Onuoha and also, stated his resolve and readiness to establish a formidable collaboration to uplift Abia North and the state, at large.
He said: “I and Bourdex are brothers; beyond our political affiliations. In fact, his family and I have maintained close ties for many years.
“His children and my children are best of friends, to the extent that they visit each other from time to time.
“Elections have been conducted and a winner has been democratically chosen. Irrespective of our political differences, I and Bourdex have decided to join hands to move Abia North and Abia state forward.”
Kalu said Abia North stakeholders in all political parties have “realised that there is so much to be done, especially in the area of infrastructure and empowerment of our people. Our people have suffered enough.
“We have decided to jointly work together towards the emancipation of our people. Let me also salute the statesmanship of Chief Bourdex during and after the election. It was worthy of emulation.”
