The leadership of the North-East zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have
enjoined eligible voters to come out in their multitudes, devoid of bitterness to cast votes for the party come Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a press statement yesterday made available to media men in Jalingo, Taraba state by the Northeast zone National Vice chairman, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, coming out en-mass to participate in the election, he believed would go a long way to assist Nigerians of actualizing their dreams of s “better and peaceful Nation. ”

Certain that victory “clearly lies ahead for the party” he urged the people not to be discouraged as a result of the postponement of the elections from earlier scheduled date stating that “We are in the Final Push that will lead to our emancipation and the threshold of a better future. ”

He did “Of course, the night is the darkest when dawn is about to set in. The final push by our mothers for the delivery of a baby may be painful but it brings forth joy the moment the new baby cries” adding that “By next week God willing, we shall all be in a celebration mood. ”

Admonishing the people to “bear the pain of blackmail, threats, intimidation, harassment, provocation and molestation with calmness:as ” It is all but for a little while” he pleaded with the people to put aside sentiments and come out in their large numbers to vote for the “generally accepted candidates”

The party as made known by him is treading relevant paths to debar the APC led government from harassing and intimidating voters stressing that “as a party, we have instructed our party agents on necessary measures to ensure that your votes count”

He urged the electorate especially those throwing their weights behind that of the PDP to “do everything within the law to follow guidelines given to you at your polling centres, adding that “I however enjoin all our members to be very vigilant.”

Kataps who opined that the “government in power at the centre has consistently shown signs of desperation to hold on to power even when they have eroded the trust and confidence of the people” believed that the “best panacea to rigging is a massive turn out in favour of our party the PDP. ”

He urged the leadership of INEC to adhere strictly to their promise to provide level play ground for all the parties adding that “We have consistently cried out to the electoral umpire to which they have promised fairness and a level playing field.”
