Taraba former AG Governor denies dumping APC for PDP

The former Acting Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Garba Umar, has debunked the rumour making round in the state that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Popularly addressed as UTC, the form Umar who made this known while briefing media practitioners yesterday in Jalingo the state capital, described the rumour as false and baseless stressing that ” I am still a card carrying member of the APC ‘

The former Acting Governor who made this known through his media aide, Alhaji Yau Sumaila, said his principal who was among the numerous aspirants that jostled for the governorship ticket of the APC during the party’s primary, vowed to continue to throw his weight in support of the party’s presidential candidate and the party at large.

Calling on Tarabans to put aside party, religion and ethnic differences and throng out en-mass by queuing massively behind all the candidates of the APC, the need to effect change in the leadership position of the state, he said has become necessary.

Admonishing electorates to ” vote wisely ” and eschew acts capable of igniting crisis during and after the election, the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide level play ground for all the political parties, he believed can no longer be overemphasized.

He also admonished security operatives not to make themselves as tool to ” the PDP to disrupt the conduct of the exercise ” stressing that ” we in the opposition especially the APC are very much optimistic that if giving a level play ground by both the INEC and security agencies, our party will triumph at the end of the day.”
