The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Maj. Gen. John Gbor, has said that he wants to be president of Nigeria to make things work.

Gbor who spoke with newsmen in Makurdi on Monday said the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari, although a general, and a former military head of state, is now helpless to handle the affairs of the country hence the need to change him for a more competent person.

“Nigerians are hungry. He (Buhari) cannot address the situation of insecurity. He is helpless as Nigerians are killed in their homes, on the highway, on their farms, in the bushes, in the mosques, and in the churches.

“There is need to change Muhammadu Buhari with a more competent person. And APC and President Buhari have proved to be inefficient, ineffective and there’s a need for Nigerians to do the needful. Remove him and bring somebody who will protect this country and that person is Maj. Gen John Gbor.

“Nigerians have come to realise that this country belongs to all. Since we have been practising democracy, the leadership of this country had been mostly people from the far north and people in the southwest. Now, Nigerians have come to realise that this is not fair to the rest of the country.

“Therefore, if the ticket is given to me, not only as an individual but also on the platform of APGA as an alternative party, that will change the governance of this country this year.”

He urged all Nigerians to come out on February 16, this year to vote him enmass as the next president of the country and remove President Buhari whom he insisted is inefficient.

While regretting that as a giant of Africa, Nigeria is now referred to as the poverty capital of the world, Gbor promised that if elected, he would restructure the country, respect the state as a federating unit, decentralise the police, decentralise electric power supply as well as give constitutional powers to traditional rulers as stakeholders in their states.

He lamented that Nigeria is sitting on time bomb by ignoring its youths and women as well as the physically-challenged even as he promised to establish an agency for youths, women and the physically-challenged to empower them to become a productive force in the country.
