Police crack down at suspected killers of colleagues, vigilantes others in Taraba

The Taraba state police command has paraded before newsmen suspected killers of three policemen and two vigilantes in Lau Local Government Council of the state.

Also paraded are a gang of rapists, human part dealers, notorious armed bandits and persons involved in offenses ranging from impersonations to defilement of a five years old girl.

Parading the suspects, the commissioner of police, David Akinremi, said the command has in the past weeks embarked on massive onslaught to rid the state of ” gang rape, thuggery, armed robberies, homicide and other heinous crime which have been of serious concern in the state in recent weeks.”

The commissioner who noted that ” this fight against all forms of criminalities in the past few weeks has yielded positive results, said the three murdered policemen whose names he gave as ASP kilobas Iliya, Sargent John Dogo and Police Constance Joel Saleh, ” were gruesomely murdered along with two members of the vigilante group while responding to a distress at Bujumbura village in Lau Local Government Council.

After a painstaking intelligence ” led investigations” three of the ” hoodlums” as stated by him have been arrested, but regretting that the some of the hoodlums carted away one AK 47 rifle and a Barreta pistol from the officers.

The arrested hoodlums as made public by him are Adamu Bakari of Abare village in Lau, Haruna Baba and Ali Musa both of Wuro Baba resident .

The suspects accordto him did not only admitted their roles in the ” dastardly act, but confirmed that about twenty of them were recruited by one Alhaji Ahmadu Baka, Saraki Fulani of Abare village” whom they admitted ” gave them arms with which they attacked the deceased under the guise that they were to help him fight some people who were coming cart away cattle.”

The commissioner who noted that over ten cases of rapes have been recorded in the past weeks many victims whom he said were accosted ” on their way to the farms” said the police would leave no stone unturned to checkmate the activities of gang rape in the state.

He admonished parents to keep tap on their wards and children adding that ” parents should take extra care of their girl child.”

The arrest of the suspected human parts dealers, he said came as a result of a report received from a mortuary attendant with the Federal Medical Centre located in Jalingo the state capital.

One of the suspects was said t have requested for death female private part hair for ritual purpose at a huge sum of amount stating that ” police detectives were alerted and the suspect arrested .”

Stressing the readiness of the police to bring to books all the perpetrators of ” these barbaric acts” he enjoined the people of the state to continue to partner with the police ” in our determination to rid the state of all criminal elements
