Dasukigate: Court summons APC governorship candidate over corrupt charges

By our correspondent in Taraba

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state has summoned the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Taraba Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi over alleged corrupt practices.

Granting the application of the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) justice Stephen Daniel Pam of the Jalingo Federal High Court stressed the need for the Danladi who was described as the ” third defendant” to appear physically before the court on the 5th of December this year.

Dalandi, along side with some top government officials from the state, as observed by The Guardian are presently standing trial on offenses ranging from conspiracy to obtaining the sum of N450million without passing through financial process.

Overwhelmed by the decision of the court to grant his application, the EFCC lawyer, Ahamad Muntaka said should the gubernatorial flag bearer of the APCor Taraba state failed to appear before the court on the aforementioned date, the court may be left with no option than to ” issue a bench warrant of arrest.”

Citing section 113 and 114, of he administration of criminal justice 2015, Danladi who was the former Acting Governor of the state along side those standing trial with him has no legal backing to withdraw from the treasury the sum of N450million without passing through financial institution.”

Certain that EFCC would triumph in the case, he noted that ” after the Summon is affected on him and he refused to show up we can go ahead to move the court to issue bench warrant of arrest on him .”

Wondering why should the first, second and third defendant went as far as obtaining the sum of N450million without passing through due process, the EFCC as made known by him would tread all legitimate paths to bring them to book.

On his own part , the counsel to the third defendant. Yakubu Maikasuwa, who expressed his williness to make all the processes available to his client was optimistic that Danladi would be in court come December.

The said amount as gathered by Naija247 News was part of the amount doled out by the former National Security Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan for election campaign in 2015.
