Okorocha declares for Orlu senatorial seat

Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has formally declared to contest the Orlu senatorial seat in the 2019 elections.

A statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, quoted the governor as making the declaration before leaders and stakeholders of Orlu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Owerri.

The statement reads: “It is interesting to inform all men and women of goodwill especially Imo people and Orlu Zone people in particular that the governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has officially announced his intention to contest the 2019 election for Orlu Zone Senatorial Seat.

“The governor, who had few months ago given the hint that he might contest the 2019 election to go to the Senate for Orlu zone said he will be contesting the election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Okorocha said he would hinge on the success story of the free education programme in the state and more than one thousand verifiable projects to his credit as governor to win his election to go to the Senate, adding that he needed no campaign posters.

The governor expressed gratitude to Imo people in general and the people of Orlu Zone in particular for loving him and appreciating all he is doing for the state as their governor even when he is not unmindful of the unfortunate activities of the opposition in the state.

Dr. Steve Orji who led the Orlu zone political leaders to visit the governor said that, looking at the Okorocha’s monumental achievements as governor, Orlu zone political leaders have no other option than to come and ask him to run for the Senate to represent the zone.
