Facebook is running a roadshow to invite Nigerian university students to develop technology products that can help the country move forward, Naija247news reports.
Facebook recently opened its NG_Hub space in Lagos and said that the new FB Start Accelerator programme will be the focus of its roadshow. It aims to provide start-ups and students with technical and business support, as well as up to USD 20,000 in equity-free funding.
Facebook’s university tour will visit thirteen cities in Nigeria in 30 days, and the team has already held events in some regions. The university tour aims to educate and attract students to build service that use advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), data science, the Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The university tour intends to demystify myths surrounding “deep tech” and promote the benefits. The FB Start Accelerator programme aims to support over 50,000 students, small businesses and creative entrepreneurs across the country in 2018.
