President Muhammadu Buhari has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) governors to support a former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, for the chairmanship of the party. The president sought the governors’ support for Oshiomhole during a closed-door meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja last night, a presidency official told State House correspondents.

The party had fixed it’s national convention for May 14 in Abuja, where its new National Working Committee members would be elected.
Governors at the meeting included those of Edo, Kogi, Kaduna, Plateau, Adamawa, Zamfara, Imo, Kano, Borno, Niger, Nasarawa, Ogun, Oyo, Jigawa and Kebbi states.
The meeting, which started at 8:00pn, was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
