The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Engineer Yabagi Sani, says the party’s presidential ticket has been zoned to the north as a bloc.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Sani, who said this yesterday in Abuja at the third ADP North-central zonal meeting, also revealed that the slot for the position of Vice President had been zoned to the South.
The ADP National Chairman said that various zones in the north and south would meet to agree on the zone that would eventually get the two tickets and produce good presidential materials among the six geo-political zones.
He gave an assurance that the party would consider the request from the North-central zone on the need to be given the opportunity to produce the presidential candidate in 2019.
Yabagi, who spoke on the state of the nation, called the federal government to quickly rise to the occasion by tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
“We believe that the Nigerian Army is equal to the task. Anger, hunger and killings currently going on in the country are not dividends of democracy. We are calling on the APC government to leave a good legacy before leaving office in 2019,” he also said.
He expressed the readiness of the ADP to work and dialogue with any political group or civil society organisation in order to move the country forward.
The new ADP National Vice Chairman, North-central, Senator Yusuf Nagogo, in his remarks, asked the party leadership to zone the presidential ticket to his domain in the interest of justice and fairness, saying that the region could boast of capable hands and consummate politicians.
Senator Nagogo said that since 1999, the North Central has never been considered for the Presidency.
He argued that Alhaji Shehu Shagari is from the North West and so is Musa Yar’adua and now President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him , the North-east also had Alhaji Tafawa Balewa in the first republic and Atiku Abubakar as vice President.
“If after 2019 we are deprived again, we do not know when it will again return to the North,” he also said.
