Nigeria’s unwell president Buhari will return to London for medical checkup


President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says the president will not fly in doctors from London for his medical check-ups.

Reacting to reports that Buhari had plans to fly his doctors into the country today, Shehu said in Abuja that the president will return to London where he spent his 49-day medical vacation for check-up.

“The last time the president spoke about this (medical trip), he said he would return to his doctors after some time,” Shehu said.

“We are not aware that this has changed. We are not aware of the reported advance movements.”

The presidential spokesman did not specify when Buhari will continue his medical vacation.

President Buhari had shortly on returning to the country on March 10, revealed that he would be returning to London for check-ups.

“There may be need to have further follow-ups within some weeks,” he had said.
