Nigeria seeks to tax rich citizens owning properties in neighbouring countries

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the ratification for the establishment of the West African Tax Administration Forum.

The forum will enable the Federal Government to make Nigerians owning properties in various West African nations pay taxes.

Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun told State House correspondents after the FEC meeting that this was part of the Nigerian tax reform efforts.

“As you know, Nigerians own properties in Ghana and other neighbouring countries. Now for tax purposes, they will be able to have access to that type of information,” she said.
