The male table tennis players at the ongoing Perfect Team Table Tennis Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia would lock horns with their Hungarian counterpart in a quarter final match on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria topped Group F with eight points from four unbeaten matches.
The two African giants, Nigeria and Egypt remain the unbeaten sides at the ongoing competition.
Anderson Bankole, the Technical Director, Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) who spoke to NAN on telephone from the competition venue, said the players would win the match.
Bankole said that the players were in good form and without injury, stressing that they are in high spirit.
“The players are exhibiting good conduct and are ready to conquer. They have decided to train on Thursday which is supposed to be a free day for them to relax.
“They are ready to conquer and book their place in the semi-final match. I have no doubt about their skills and what they are cable of doing.
“They started the competition on a good note and have maintained an unbeaten streak. I am optimistic that this match is another win for them,” he said.
A player, Ojo Onaolapo said they were well prepared to defeat their Hungarian opponent.
Onaolapo said that they would be playing the match with all seriousness like they did in previous matches.
“The competition keeps getting tougher as the day goes by. We are now in a delicate stage at the tournament.
“We will be more serious than before because we are gradually getting to our target of the competition.
“Our focus is playing in the teams’ event at the Olympics,” he stressed.
