The Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto (UDUS) Alumni Association, Abuja Chapter, says it is undertaking a water project for the institution at the cost of more than N46 million.

The theme of the retreat is ‘Strategic Thinking, Planning and Organisational Transformation’.
“We have project of N46 .something million- that is about the water project- because we cannot allow our brothers, our children to be in the university where they have inadequacy of water supply.
“It is a very key thing; we are looking at it.
“So, we are trying; both our senior ones and us to see how we can come together and finance this project at the chapter level.
“Individuals could equally have individual’s projects they can do but I believe this what we do directly.
“We are synergising with a lot of private partners to see how they can partner in accommodation; naturally, so many of us are ready to invest there; so you have that ownership.’’
The president said that the university would mark its 40th anniversary on March 19.
He said that as part of a programme schedule to mark the event, the vice-chancellor had identified projects, which the institution’s alumni organisations would support.
Also speaking, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, said that the institution would partner its alumni associations in the provision of critical infrastructure and Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities.
He said that the need for the university to have the facilities had been underscored by the digital nature of the world at present.
According to him, for that reason, the institution cannot afford to be left behind.
Zuru listed classrooms, lecture theatres, clean water, and internet services as some of the facilities required by the institution.
Earlier, the National President of the association, Prof. Risikuwa Shehu, urged the alumni of the university to give back to the institution that made them into the notable individuals they were today. (NAN)
