A cousin of Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Bayelsa state, was kidnapped by armen men today, November 23, when he was heading to the APC rally.

The cousin was heading to a political rally in support of Sylva that was planed to be held in the Okpoma and Brass areas of the state.
Nathan Egba, the director for media and publicity of Sylva’s campaign, confirmed Douglas’ abduction. “The victim was coming for this campaign but, unfortunately, their boat which was in our convoy was attacked by the gunmen who abducted him to an unknown destination,” the aid said.
“I pray that nothing will happen to him,” Egba added.
A police spokesman for Bayelsa state said that the command has yet to receive an official report of the incident.
Meanwhile, the incident has sent shock waves through the area and instilled fear in the other passengers in the convey who were unhurt.
