acting-chairman-bello-2Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello, a former National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Minister of Defence, was Monday night appointed Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) in its first meeting since the party’s defeat at the last general elections.

The BoT which met inside the Presidential Villa on Monday night with President Goodluck Jonathan in attendance, appointed Dr. Bello to the position after President Jonathan declined the position, BoT Secretary, Wali Jubrin told state house correspondents after the meeting

Incumbent BoT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, who resigned last week, had said he was doing so to allow the President lead the board when his tenure ends on May 29, 2015.

The Kebbi State born career politician would lead the BoT until a substantive chairman is elected for it and the party in about three months, Jubrin said.
