AIG advises troublemakers to stay clear of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara states

The zone comprises Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

Mr. Bala Hassan, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the zone, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the police had taken proactive security measures to protect lives and property of residents in the states under his supervision.

Hassan said that already, the three commissioners of police in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states had  been briefed on the  various forms  of security methods to be adopted  against possible security threat after the announcement of the results.

He said that the command would continue to put in place adequate security measures that would guarantee the safety of the lives and property of the people.

Hassan urged the people in the three states to cooperate with security agencies in their resolve to ensure peaceful coexistence.

The AIG advised leaders of political parties to encourage and promote political tolerance and understanding among their members and supporters.

He warned that the police would not hesitate to deal with any person or group planning to disrupt the peace over the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He, however, commended the people in the affected states for their peaceful conduct during the Presidential elections and urged them to sustain the tempo ahead of the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections.( NAN)
