20 ships with petroleum products, foods, discharging in Lagos


Twenty ships laden with petroleum products, foods and other goods are currently discharging at the various port terminals in Lagos.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) stated this in its daily publication – `Shipping Position’ – made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos.

Naija247news reports that the ships are discharging petrol, bulk gas, bulk rice, general cargo, bulk salt, gypsum, containers, sugar and buckwheat.

The NPA said that 33 other ships were expected at the ports from Feb. 16 to Feb. 28.

It stated that 13 of the expected ships would sail in with containers, two with petroleum products, while three others would sail in with fresh fish.

According to the authority, 15 other ships will arrive with bulk rice, tug boat, buckwheat, bulk malt, bulk clinker, bulk sugar, base oil and general cargo.

It noted that 14 ships had arrived and were waiting to berth with petroleum products and other commodities.

The NPA said that six of the ships waiting to berth contained petrol; one with diesel and seven, bulk rice, general cargo and bulk fertiliser.
