Malawi has embarked on a second financial literacy week aimed at increasing public awareness on financial products and services.Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe said Tuesday in the capital Lilongwe that there was need for the people to be provided with knowledge on financial services and products so that they make informed decision at the financial market like banks.
“We need to inform the general public on products and services offered to them and the benefits of effective finance management,” he said.
In his remarks, Reserve Bank governor Charles Chuka said they opened up clinics for questions and answers to the general public on issues of finance.
“People will be free to ask any question on finance and our team will be able to respond to them in a friendly manner,” he said.
This is the second time the country is holding such a campaign after holding a successful one last year.
