Continental-Re Appoints New Head of Life Operations

Continental Reinsurance Plc (Continental-Re), which prides itself as Africa’s largest private reinsurer outside of South Africa, has named Mr. Abayomi Oluremi-Judah as head of its life insurance operation.
Confirming the appointment recently, the Group Managing Director of Continental-Re, Dr. Femi Oyetunji described Oluremi-Judah as an exceptional addition to the company, saying he will bring his experience in the global finance to bear on the business on the company
“We are very pleased to bring Nigerian-born Oluremi-Judah back to Africa to support Continental Reinsurance to realise its vision to be the premier pan-African reinsurer.
“Africa has vast potential to develop a world-class reinsurance market, however to achieve this we need reinsurance skills, including analytical, actuarial, underwriting and asset management skills as well as local knowledge to grow and support Africa’s renaissance and economic development,” Oyetunji  said.
Oluremi-Judah trained and has worked as an Actuary in the United Kingdom and Europe for over the past 13 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics (University of Warwick) and is an associate of the Institute of Actuaries.
He is expected to bring his experience in insurance and reinsurance business to bear on the African market generally.
According to Oyetunji, Continental-Re was fully committed to addressing the skills gap in the local market by developing local talent, providing training and knowledge for the local markets and bringing the diaspora back to Africa.
Continental-Re offers a full suite of non-life and life reinsurance services to African insurers. It is rated B+ (Good) by A.M. Best in recognition of its financial strengths and credited for robust risk-adjusted capital.
Continental Reinsurance started operation in 1987 and its shares were listed on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2007.  The company operates in more than 46 African countries and has expanded its regional footprint with offices in Cameroun, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia.
