An aide to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Alhaji Umar Duhu, has refuted reports that the former Borno governor was prevented from flying by security agents in Abuja on Monday.
Duhu in a statement said there is no iota of truth in the report that made the rounds in the social media saying Sheriff is “safe, untouched and moving freely like any private citizen pursuing his legitimate enterprises within and outside the shores of this Country.
“He went to Lagos to attend to the needs of his businesses, where he has not attended to for a long time now. Immediately I saw the so called posting, I put a call across to him on his MTN line. It rang and I asked, if he was molested or arrested by any one or the Army. His response was; ‘are you mad’? After explaining to him the source of the news, he expressed shock and embarrassment with the blatant lies by mischief makers.”
The former governor was said to have been prevented from flying at the Abuja airport by some security agents on Monday while on his way to Lagos.
