Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State yesterday held a closed door meeting with candidates of the party in the 34 local government areas of the state and agreed to make financial contributions for the success of the candidates in Saturday’s LG elections.
The meeting was at the instance of some support groups who said there was a need to empower the aspirants financially and morally towards the elections.
Our reporter gathered that top politicians from the state and Abuja have been making financial contribution to the candidates.
Yesterday’s meeting which was at the instance of a group known as The Katsina Network our reporter learnt, contributed over N15 million as support to the party and its candidates where N500,000 was given to each of the 34 local governments with the candidates collecting N200,000 each, the local government party offices N200,000 each and the Network offices got N100,000 each while the state headquarters of the party got 2 million naira.
Speaking after the meeting, the founder of Katsina Network, Alhaji Mukhtar Abubakar Buba said they chose to identify with the aspirants to show support and concern ahead of the polls.
He said the meeting was also meant to show support and solidarity to the aspirants adding that the PDP would win the elections giving the performances of the present administration.
