APC commends aspirants’ maturity


rp_interim-national-publicity-secretary-all-progressives-congress-lai-mohammed-3608888.jpgSecretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Bakari has applauded the maturity demonstrated by aspirants contesting for governorship position in the state saying the smooth conduct of the screening exercise is an indication of transparency and respect for democratic ideals.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Trust in Yola, Bakari said although all seven aspirants were cleared, the Appeal Committee would start sitting on Wednesday in case of any complaint against the exercise.
He said the party has never been more united and that they are looking forward to primary the election, saying the process is going smoothly.
The secretary who said the party has no plans for consensus noted that even in a situation where some aspirants agree to consensus among themselves, delegates must ratify the outcome, stressing the need for political parties to entrench internal democracy.
He said the APC as a party founded on principles of justice, equity and fair play would not compromise its standard or involve some undemocratic practices  in the process of electing its candidate.
He also called on APC supporters to ensure the victory of the party by mobilizing to vote for whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer  during the forthcoming primary election saying he is upbeat the party would reclaim its mandate in the state.
