Ogun Indigenes Made A “Mistake” For Voting Amosun Into Power – Gbenga

Date:

amosun-and-danielFormer governor of Ogun State, Chief Gbenga Daniel, on Sunday, denied allegation leveled against him by his successor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, that he set booby traps for his administration.

Daniel, who spoke at the federal constituency meeting of the Labour Party (LP), held at Atan in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of the state, described the allegation as tissues of lies by Amosun against his person.

He wondered why Amosun had continued to tell lies about his eight years tenure in the state, after three and a half years in office.

Naija247news recalled that Amosun in an interview, published on  Sunday Tribune, accused his predecessor of embarking on many projects that were purposely put in place to make governance uneasy for him.

Senator Amosun claimed that the establishment of four Information Communication Technology (ICT) polytechnics and the increase in the salaries of permanent secretaries  were part of the traps set by Daniel.

The former governor said: “I heard the governor saying Daniel has set booby traps for him. What are these booby traps? I now checked the newspapers to know what he said I had done. After three and a half years, this man is still disturbed by my profile. I didn’t say I want to contest governorship against him.

“I now asked myself: how much were we paying those institutions during my administration? What we paid before we left government was less than N10 million. Therefore, all the four ICT polytechnics that we established and the Gateway Industrial and Petrochemical Institute, Oni, what they got was not up to N50 million. But somebody who cannot pay them N50 million is now constructing bridges at N5 billion, N8 billion.”

He added that the people of the state made a “mistake” for voting Amosun into power, saying that he tried his best for the state while holding sway as the governor.
