A Mararaba Magistrates’ Court in Nasarawa State, on Tuesday sentenced one Oliva Fanfa to six months imprisonment for stealing iron rod valued at N2,600.
Fanfa, who lives on Abacha Road, Mararaba, was arraigned on a charge of stealing to which he pleaded guilty.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Iliya Aku, convicted Fafa following his guilty plea but, however, gave him an option of N2500 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, PC Donald Hemen, had told the court that the convict stole an iron rod valued N2,600 on June 13 at Abacha Road.
Hemen said that one Mrs Seolar Jude had reported the theft on June 13 at the Sani Abacha Road Police Station in Mararaba.
According to him, when the matter was investigated by the police, the iron rod was recovered at the residence of the convict.
The prosecutor said that the offence committed contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
