Osun House tasks ministry, tutor-generals on education sector

raufThe Osun House of Assembly on Tuesday urged the Ministry of Education and Tutor-Generals in the state to intensify efforts toward  improving  standards  in the education sector.

Mr Folorunso Bamisayemi, the House Committee Chairman on Education, Science and Technology, made the plea at a meeting with the management of the ministry  and the tutor-generals.

Bamisayemi said the meeting was to assess the performance  of students in public schools.

He urged the ministry to develop a work plan that would improve the performance  of students  in internal and external examinations.

The lawmaker also  enjoined the ministry and the management staff not to hesitate to ask for necessary intervention from the assembly.

He commended the ministry for its efforts at boosting the education sector in the state, urging  that the welfare of staff and students should be taken seriously.

The Permanent Secretary in the education ministry, Mr Lawrence Oyeniran, assured the House that efforts would be made to sustain the standard of education in the state
