Kebbi Gov’s wife pledges to promote girl-child education


The Wife of the Kebbi Governor, Hajiya Asama’u Dakingari, on Wednesday pledged to work towards the improvement of girl-child education to enhance rapid development of the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Abubakar Mua’zu, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, in Birnin Kebbi.

The statement quoted the governor’s wife as promising to work closely with parents, traditional and religious leaders to encourage enrolment of girls in schools.

It urged parents and guardians to enrol their children in school to enable them benefit from both Islamic and western education.

The statement commended the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Samaila Kamba, for renaming the Girls Secondary School in Kamba after the governor’s wife.

It said the decision to rename the school to ‘Nana Asama’u Government Secondary School’ was in recognition of the role played by the governor’s wife to the development of girl-child education in the state
