The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 30-year-old housewife, Mary Shodunke who allegedly assaulted her 80-years-old landlady.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lugard Ahonle told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 18 at No. 1, Adelanwa St., Baruwa, a suburb of Lagos, at 9.45 p.m.
“Shodunke had an argument with her landlady, one Mrs Silifat Adelanwa, over house rent.
“During the argument, she abused and beat her up,” he said.
According to him, other tenants intervened but to no avail.
The offence, Ahonle said, contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
She, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The Magistrate, Taiwo Akanni, adjourned the case to May 22 for mention. (NAN)
