NSCDC seizes 27,000 litres of petroleum products in Lagos

4daf908dd3ef167457e5e8a9944f4262The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it seized over 27,000 litres of petroleum products from suspected oil thieves in this month.

The Spokesman of the NSCDC, Mr Chibuzor Mefor, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.

Mefor said that the petroleum products, which were contained in 108 drums, had been handed over to the NNPC.

“The products were recovered from oil vandals on the high sea in Iwoko Ajido and Ebute Olofin in Badagry, Lagos State on March 5.

“The products were loaded from Escravos, Apapa and Festac area of Lagos for onward movement to neighbouring countries of Benin Republic and Togo.’’

The spokesman said that the seizure was due to intelligence information from members of the public.

In February, the NSCDC seized 22 drums in Badagry, each containing 250 litres of petrol
