The accused are Funsho Sowemimo, 35; Michael Adegboyeku, 55; Adeoye Owoseni, 38; and Idowu Ayodele.

The accused, who reside at Onipanu, Yaba and Somolu areas in Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the accused in 2012 and 2013, while in the employment of Gebit Investment Ltd., manipulated stock records and stole stainless steel materials valued N21.592.

“The accused in the cause of their employment at Gebit Investment Ltd. manipulated and forged the company records of stock.

“They, without authority modified the company information software, meddled with the company documents and letter-headed papers, and illegally sent quotations to the public,” Nwangwu said.

He said that the offences contravened sections 285, 338,363 and385 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, ruled that the accused be remanded pending a formal bail application.

Nwachukwu said that the decision was premised on the prosecution’s claim that the accused were a flight risk.

She ordered that the prosecution should also file formal claim before the court and adjourned the case till April 9 for hearing.
