The Kwara Football League began on Tuesday in Ilorin with 24 clubs jostling for honours in the competition.
Busari Ishola, the Chairman, Kwara State Football Association (KSFA), who declared the league open, urged players and officials to obey the rules and regulations guiding the competition.
Ishola also implored them to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship to ensure the development of football in the state.
“The State Sports Council and clubs in the state, which are participating in the various leagues in the country, should also use the opportunity to scout for talents to beef up their teams,’’ the association chairman also advised.
He called on match officials to be fair in their officiating for the best clubs to emerge at the end of the league.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 24 clubs in the league have been divided into six groups.
The leader in each group and two best runners-up will advance to the quarter-finals.
