The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Monday ratified the election of 21 new members of its National Working Committee (NWC).
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The new officers were ratified at the Annual General Assembly meeting of the forum held in Kaduna at which the names of members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and NEC were also presented.
The new members of the BOT included Alhaji Adamu Fika as Chairman, Alhaji Muktar Muhammed, Deputy Chairman; while Prof. Para Malum is the Vice Chairman.
The BOT members are to serve from February 2014 to February 2020.
Alhaji Ahmadu Coomassie is to serve as NEC Chairman, with Alhaji Musa Kwande as his deputy, while Sen. Abubakar Girei is the Vice Chairman.
Col. John Ubah (retired) is to serve as Secretary-General, while Alhaji Abubakar Umar is the Deputy Secretary-General.
Others included Alhaji Muhammed Soba, Assistant Secretary-General; Alhaji Abubakar Moriki, Treasurer; Alhaji Murtala Aliyu, Deputy Treasurer; while Alhaji Saleh Bade is the Assistant Treasurer.
Hajiya Halima Alfa is the Legal Adviser, Hajiya Fatima Kwaku, Deputy, and Alhaji Bashir Albasu is the Assistant Legal Adviser.
Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim emerged as the National Publicity Secretary, while Hajiya Amina Ladan is the deputy, and will be assisted by Mr Adebayo Abubakar.
Alhaji Ahmed Bawa is the Financial Secretary; Hajiya Laraba Dattijo, Deputy Financial Secretary, to be assisted by Alhaji Ado Datti.
Alhaji Baba Bisalla, Auditor-General, and Alhaji Alhassan Fawu, Deputy Auditor-General; to be assisted by retired Navy Capt. Hamidu Jafejji.
Speaking while presenting his report, the out-going Secretary-General, Col. Musa Shehu (retired), said that the forum played a very vital role in the 2011 general elections by creating a level playing ground in the zoning and rotation of power between the North and South.
Shehu also said that the ACF also contributed positively to 1999 constitution amendment and in dealing with security challenges in the country.
“ACF had participated in the security intervention programme of the Federal Government where it recommended some measures to be adopted in tackling the insecurity in Borno and some parts of the North.’’
According to him, the ACF also promoted peaceful co-existence and unity in the country through various programmes, including advocacy visits to Plateau and some flash-points in parts of southern Kaduna State.
