The Minister of State for FCT, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide, on Wednesday, signed a N28.117-billion contract agreement for the provision of infrastructure in Wasa community of the FCT.

Akinjide said that the move was to cut cost of housing and provide basic amenities in the community.
The minister said the company would provide roads, electricity, water, street lights, post office and telecom services, culverts and bridges for the community.
She said 367 hectares of land had been provided for an estimated 5,000 houses and the time frame for the project was 48 months.
She explained that the Wasa community was one of the newly created districts in the FCT and it needed all the basic amenities to meet the standard of a community.
“The basic amenities will be provided under Public Private Partnership Project, with the government providing the land, infrastructure and regulatory policies.
“The housing corporative in the public and private sectors will get a developer for the type of houses they want,’’ She said.
In his speech, the General Manager, Gilmor Nigeria Limited, Moshe Machom, gave the assurance that the project would be completed as scheduled and would meet all specifications.
