NSE ASI dips by 0.24% on Thursday

nse5The first trading day of the new year at the Nigerian Stock Market ended on a bearish trend as the All Share Index, ASI, dipped by 100.70 points or 0.24 percent to close lower on Thursday at 41,228.49 basis points when compared with Tuesday’s closing figure of 41,329.19 basis points.

The market capitalisation of listed entities equally depreciated by N32 billion or 0.24 percent to close on Thursday at N13.194 trillion as against Tuesday’s closing figure of N13.226 trillion.

At the close of Thursday’s transactions, investors traded 489.41 million shares valued at N3.93 billion in 3,966 deals.

This was in contrast to the 562.44 million shares worth N3.91 billion that was exchanged on Tuesday in 3,710 deals.

Sterling Bank led the top five trades by volume chart on Thursday with 104.83 million shares, worth N262.08 million.

FCMB was second with 41.58 million shares valued at N157.05 million while NEM was third with 38.31 million shares worth N30.99 million.

Unity Bank was fourth with 32.59 million shares valued at N16.29 million while UBA was last on the chart with 31.61 million shares, valued at N287.38 million.

Total led the gainers chart on Thursday with an increase of N3.30k in its share price to close at N173.30k per share.

Oando was second with a gain of N2.48k in its share price to close at N26.73k per share, while Dangote Cement in third spot, gained N1.01k in its share price to close at N220.00 per share.

Ashaka Cement was fourth, gaining N0.89k in its share price to close at N21.88k per share, while GTB was last on the chart with a share price gain of N0.73k to close at N27.75k per share.

However, Nestle led the losers’ chart, shedding N18.00 in its share price to close at N1,182.00 per share.

Forte Oil was second with a loss of N4.88k in its share price to close at N92.87k per share, while Nigerian Breweries in third spot, lost N2.89k in its share price to close at N165.01k per share.

Zenith Bank was fourth, losing N2.40k in its share price to close at N25.00 per share, while Guinness was last on the chart with a share price loss of N0.91k to close at N235.09k per share.
