Adesanya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the awareness campaign would give potential investors insights into tourism potential in the country

The traditional ruler said that creating awareness and developing the rural tourism potential would create employment opportunities for youths in various communities.

He also urged the local council chairmen to develop the tourism potential in their areas, adding that each chairman had the requisite resources to develop a tourism product in his locality.

Adesanya expressed concern that most local government chairmen were not doing enough to develop the enormous tourism potential in their localities.

“Majority of the council chairmen do not know how to package tourism in their localities.

“There are lots of tourism resources in the rural areas that can fetch the government huge revenue if well developed, ‘’ he told NAN.

Adesanya said that lack of awareness of the tourism resources was a major challenge facing the sector.

The traditional ruler urged the council chairmen to organise sensitisation workshops on tourism potential in rural areas.

“The idea is to attract investors to invest in the rich tourism potential in their localities.

“When people are aware of the tourism potential, then the tendencies to develop are there, “ he said. (NAN)
