A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Garba Pwul, on Sunday said the conferment of chieftaincy titles on individuals by paramount rulers was an inspiration and stimulant for selfless service.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Pwul made the observation in Mangu, Plateau, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) following the conferment of chieftaincy titles on three indigenes of Mwaghavul by the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Mr Nelson Bakfur, on Saturday.
The new title holders are Chief Musa Pwul, Chief Dennis Lamu and Chief Geoffrey Yenle.
He said the “visible and meaningful contributions” of the three persons earned them recognition and eventual conferment of the titles by the paramount ruler of the area in Mangu Local Government area”.
”This occasion will definitely inspire other indigenes to wake up to the challenge to do something for their people and communities.
”Of course, chieftaincy titles only go to those who have contributed in one way or the other to the community where they are or come from.”
Mr Clark Dabwan, former Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, said the occasion was inspiring and challenging.
”It is a challenge to some of us to make an impact in our own little way to uplift the standard of living of our people and communities.
”We appreciate what the three conferees had done to the Mwaghavul people and the state, and will take a cue from them, especially as they have been recognised and rewarded,” he said.
The occasion featured the display of various cultural dances as dignitaries from all walks of life witnessed it.
