President Goodluck Jonathan, accompanied by the First Lady and several government officials, left the Nigeria capital, Abuja, yesterday night for Paris, France, where he is scheduled to participate in the Summit on Peace and Security in Africa.

“He will stop-over in Germany for a private visit on his way to Paris and return to Abuja at the conclusion of the summit on Saturday,” according to presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati.

Investigations by News Express showed that the “private visit” is in connection with the First Lady’s appointment with her doctors.

The First Lady, who had in the past received treatment in Germany for an undisclosed ailment, has been out of circulation for a while. She was conspicuously absent on Saturday, November 23, when she was conferred with an honourary doctorate degree in Public Administration during the 4th Founder’s Day and 1st Convocation Ceremony of Oduduwa University (OUI), Ipetumodu, Osun State, South-West Nigeria.
