A 32-year-old driver, Ikechukwu Stephen, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos charged with abducting a policeman.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Gbenga Salami, told the court that the accused, on Dec. 3, resisted arrest by Cpl. Christian Mokobia, and carried him in his bus to an unknown destination.
Salami said that the offence was committed at the Orile Bus Stop in Iganmu, Lagos.
He said that the accused drove a Volkswagen bus with registration number KSF318XC, and caused obstruction on the Lagos-Badagry Highway.
Salami said that the policeman entered the bus at the bus stop and directed the driver to proceed to the Orile Police Station over the infraction, but he headed toward Iganmu Bridge
He said that when the accused was eventually apprehended, it was discovered that he had no vehicle particulars and driver’s licence.
