2 unemployed men docked for allegedly assaulting neighbour

Two unemployed persons, Adamson Icha, 24, and Faith Icha,18, were on Wednesday docked before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with assault, attempted murder and breach of the peace.

The brothers, who reside at No. 56, Olayinka St., Ajegunle, Apapa, are accused of stabbing a neighbour, Mr Simon Ajunwa, with a broken bottle in the head.

The Prosecutor, Insp Friday Inedu, said that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 30 at the same address.

Inedu said that the accused conducted themselves in a manner that resulted in a breach of the peace by beating up their neighbour over a minor issue.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 171,185 and 231 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011.

If convicted, the accused could bag 14 years imprisonment.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

Following their plea, the Senior Magistrate, Mr Adeyemi Amos, granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 with a surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the case till Jan. 16, 2014 for trial. (NAN)
