He said that the committee’s membership was also drawn from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and NAMA.
According to him, the committee is expected to commence sitting on Dec. 9, and is given three weeks to turn in its report for deliberation in January.
“The parties have resolved that the contentious issues relating to the new charges be resolved within 60 days, just as they agreed to uphold the one-stop shop payment system.
“The committee is to among, other things, evaluate the proposed charges objectively using the standard and acceptable basis for industry charges, most importantly taking aircraft weight, distance and unit rate into consideration,” he said.
The Director General of NCAA, Capt. Fola Akinkiotu, was quoted by the statement to have supported the idea of reviewing the new charges.
Akinkiotu urged members of the committee to do a thorough job, saying that whatever the stakeholders agreed thereafter with the aviation agencies would become law for all to abide with.
The Managing Director of NAMA, Mr Nnamdi Udoh, urged operators to support the efforts of the agencies by subscribing to the charges.
Capt. Nogie Meggison, Chairman of Airline Operators of Nigeria, called for regular dialogue among stakeholders to create room to resolve contentious issues affecting operators. (NAN)
