“I encourage you to ensure that as you seek economic enhancement and career progress, you must always be available, usable and sustainable for your husbands and children.
“They are part of your responsibilities,” she said.
The deputy governor urged women to continue to give maximum support to their spouses and ensure full development of their children.
According to her, this is how Nigeria can build leadership for the next generation.
Orelope-Adefulire advised Olaolu to be focused and guided by the objectives of the association.
She urged career women to partner with the state government in its campaign against domestic violence, child abuse and trafficking.
“When you abuse a woman, you abuse the society.
“We will be glad to partner with you on women empowerment and youth development,’’ she said.
The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Mr Alkali Mohammed, urged the new executives of SWAN to rise against female sexual harassment in tertiary institutions.
“I also appeal to parents to educate their female children on how to achieve their goals,” he said.
Olaolu had earlier said that the goal of SWAN was to award scholarships to at least a student from every state for the next five years. (NAN)
