Ibrahim said the accused and two others now at large, formed a common intention and collected N689,000 from the complainant, with a promise to make him a millionaire.
He said the accused absconded to an unknown destination after collecting the money.
The prosecutor added that all efforts by the complainant to trace Sona did not yield results as he could not reach him on phone.
The prosecutor said luck, however, ran out on the accused when the complainant sighted him selling herbs and raised an alarm which attracted neighbours, who arrested him and handed him over to the police.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 322 of the Penal Code.
However, Sona pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Ahmed Ado, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Ado ordered that the sureties must have fixed addresses and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
He said one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 8 as he adjourned the matter to Feb. 11, 2014 for hearing. (NAN)
