The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adesida died in Akure in the early hours of Sunday at 63, after a brief illness.

He was the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers, until his death.

Fashola, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello, described Adesida’s death as saddening.

The governor said he attended the wedding of Adesida’s son a fortnight ago in Lagos and was surprised to learn that the monarch, who was hale and hearty at the ceremony, had died.

“Oba Adesida would be sorely missed by his people for whom he provided a strong moral and socio-cultural guidance since his ascension of the throne as the Deji of Akure in 2011,” he said.

Fashola condoled with the monarch’s family, as well as the people and government of Ondo State over the loss, praying God to grant the deceased’s soul peaceful repose. (NAN)
