A Magistrates’ Court in Kuje in the FCT on Monday sentenced a mechanic, Ifeanyi Charles, 25, of Nkanu West, Enugu State, to five months’ imprisonment for buying a stolen car.

Okeagu, however, gave Charles an option to pay N10,000 fine.
Earlier, the convict had pleaded for leniency and apologised to the complainant and the court for his actions.
He promised that he would not buy any stolen property again.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Ochehe Samuel, told the court that Mr Olusegun Collins of Malter Estate, Kuje, lodged a report against the accused at the Kuje Police Station on Oct. 31.
He said that the car was stolen from Obaka Silas, Collins’ mechanic, at the Kuje Forest Mechanic Workshop.
Samuel said that during investigation, the car was recovered from Charles in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
