The committee, led by its chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed, made the plea in Gombe when it paid a courtesy visit to the House of Assembly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the summit is scheduled for Dec. 3 in Gombe.

Ahmed said the committee was at the assembly to brief the legislators on the forthcoming summit and also solicit their support for the success of the event.

“We are here to brief the House on the second economic summit, which Gombe State is hosting next week.

“We also want to solicit your support, not just for the summit, but also for the summit’s implementation strategies for the outcome of the summit.

“This is a very important arm of government which you cannot take policy decisions without its consent,” he said.

Alhaji Inuwa Garba, the assembly’s Speaker, assured the committee that the legislative body would do its best to partner with it for the success of the summit.

He also assured that the assembly would, within the ambit of the law, contribute towards the successful implementation of the resolutions of the summit.(NAN)
