Basketball fans in Lagos will be thrilled to tough matches as the Youth Alive Community Basketball League (YACBL) resumes on Friday for its Week Four fixtures.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The league, played every weekend at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Yaba, went on a forced break after its Week Three competition because of the Lagos International Basketball Classics.
The classics, formerly known as Lagos Basketball Clinic, held between Nov. 20 and Nov. 22 at the same venue.
Gbade Olatona, Technical Coordinator, Lagos State Basketball Association (LSBBA), on Friday said the first match of the Week Four fixtures would be highly competitive because of the teams’ pedigree.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the teams, Deepbond Academy will engage DEL Academy in the boys’ category, while Hope 4 Girls Academy plays Raptors Academy in U-18 girls.
Olatona disclosed that the competition between the teams would be tough as both have won two games in the three-week old league.
“The just concluded Lagos International Basketball Classics had forced the shift in our fixtures, due to matches taking place at the same venue.
“We also had some of our players that featured in the U-18 categories in the three days event.’’
According to him, other matches on Friday will have Police Rookies, playing Zion Academy and Sokari, meeting Deepbond Academy in the U-18 boys’ category.
In the U-14 boys’ category, Police Rookies square up with Sokari Academy.
On Saturday, Deepbond takes on Zion as Sokari meets DEL in the U-14 boys’ category.
