The Magistrate, Ms Binta Dogogaro, also acquitted Najeem due to want of evidence.

Dogonyaro in her ruling, held that the prosecution failed to present to court evidence to show that Najeem committed

the crime.

“Go and engage in something meaningful for a living. In fact, go back to school because you are still young and should look ahead towards a bright future,” she advised him.

The prosecutor, Sgt Abdullahi Adamu, had told the court that on Nov. 22 at about 10 a.m., Michael Dabana of Festac, Lagos State, lodged a report against Najeem at the Wuse Zone 3 Divisional Headquarters of the police.

He alleged that Najeem dishonestly deceived and collected his two cell phones valued at N18, 000 and absconded.

The prosecutor said Najeem was later arrested and taken to the police station and that during investigation he confessed that he collected the said phones.

Adamu said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of Penal Code Law. (NAN)
