The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) Anambra chapter, on Friday in Awka called on all political parties to take part in the Anambra supplementary governorship polls fixed for Nov 30.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The supplementary election was fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conclude the polls which were conducted on Nov. 16 but declared inconclusive by the same electoral body.
A statement in Awka by Mrs Kate Okafor, State Chairman, and Chief Topsy Akudo, Secretary of CNPP respectively, said that parties active participation would serve the overall best interest of the state.
The CNPP called on those still aggrieved to seek legitimate and constitutional ways or options available to address their grievances rather than resort to inciting the citizens.
“We commend INEC for the humility in acknowledging its lapses and the dexterity in addressing those lapses immediately they were identified,’’ the statement added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the parties which participated in the inconclusive polls were the Action Alliance (AA), Alliance for Democracy (AD), Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Others are Advance Congress for Democrats (ACD), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Citizen Popular Party (CPP), Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Accord Party (AP) and Kowa Party (KOWA).
African People’s Alliance (APA), National Conscience Party (NCP), African Democratic Party (DPP), United People’s Party (UPP), United Democratic People’s Party (UDPP) and Independent Democrats (ID).
Three major candidates in the election, Dr. Chris Ngige of APC, Mr Tony Nwoye of PDP and Ifeanyi Uba of LP have voiced their refusal to participate in the supplementary election. (NAN)
